A few things the top maker should know before sending your quilt to Sunshine Quilts:
- Please contact me before sending a quilt. I am almost always home but there are times when I am away and I do not want your precious quilt sitting on my front porch (even though I live in a very safe area). Also, if I do not know your quilt is coming, I do not know if it doesn't arrive. If you will let me know when you send the top, I will let you know as soon as it arrives and we can both rest easier.
- Be sure your seams are pressed as neatly as possible. Bulky seams can result in a broken needle, as well as causing the top to roll unevenly on the machine.
- Trim any loose threads hanging. These can show through the top of the quilt. I often do not see them in time to remove them while quilting.
- Be sure your backing is at least 8" wider and 8" longer (4" on each side).
- If your backing has a seam, or more than one seam, be sure they are straight, and the backing has been squared.
- You are welcome to send your own batting or I can provide batting.
Once your Quilt arrives:
- I will let you know when your quilt arrives.
- I will send you several estimates, unless we have already decided on a quilting plan. I will include a price for meander, panto, custom, and heirloom in most circumstances.
- We will discuss the quilting plan and before I begin quilting, you will know what type batting I will using (if I am providing the batting), what type and color thread I will be using and exactly what type quilting design I will use. If for any reason, I feel the need to deviate from our plan, I will discuss it with you beforehand.
- You will know exactly what the quilting charges will be before I begin quilting. You will know what the quilting charges are, what the batting charges are (if any) and what the shipping charges are (if any).
- I will ask that payment be sent to me by the time I am ready to begin quilting.
When the Quilt is Finished:
- When the quilting is completed on your quilt, I will contact you to be sure you are ready to receive it (so that it isn't sitting on your front porch for a week!).
- I will ship the quilt back to you via UPS Ground and will provide a tracking number.
- I ask that you let me know when the quilt arrives. I can track it on my end and will know that UPS has delivered the quilt but I feel better once I know you have it in your hands. I have never had a problem with UPS and I hope I never do.
Thank you very much for considering me to do your quilting.
